As you already know, the Yanks are in St. Pete this weekend to take on the (Devil) Rays. Tonight's pitching match-up is probably the most anticipated of the three-game set, as Javy Vazquez hopes to make Yankees fans forget about Game 7 of the 2004 ALCS while facing flamethrowing phenom David Price. CC Sabathia takes on Wade Davis tomorrow afternoon, followed by A.J. Burnett vs. James Shields on Sunday. As I mentioned yesterday, if the Yankees can manage to come away from this set taking two of 3, there will be a lot of good feelings in Yankeeland come Monday morning after having to face arguably the two best teams in the AL in their first six games. Heck, taking an April series at Fenway for the first time since 1975 alone has made Mike and I feel downright giddy these last two days.
Not sure how much I will catch (if any) of tonight's game on TV, but I'll certainly be keeping tabs via BlackBerry. Here's tonight's lineup, courtesy of LoHud:
Derek Jeter SS
Nick Johnson DH
Mark Teixeira 1B
Alex Rodriguez 3B
Robinson Cano 2B
Jorge Posada C
Nick Swisher RF
Marcus Thames LF
Curtis Granderson
RHP Javier Vazquez
Be great to see Nick the Walk and Big Tex get off the schneid with a couple of hits. Let's go Yanks!
LETS GO YANKS!!!
